QuFi Launches Post-Quantum Verification Layer for Blockchains

Platform separates cryptographic verification from settlement

QuFi Network Limited has launched the QuFi Platform, a post-quantum verification infrastructure designed to help digital assets, financial systems, and tokenized forms of economic value adopt quantum-resistant security without requiring fundamental changes to existing settlement networks.

The launch comes as blockchain infrastructure faces rising costs associated with post-quantum cryptography. Depending on the cryptographic scheme and implementation, post-quantum signatures can be more than 100 times larger than the elliptic-curve signatures commonly used today. Larger signatures can increase storage, bandwidth, and computing requirements, potentially creating additional scalability pressures for blockchain networks.

The challenge is particularly significant because individual networks that adopt post-quantum standards may have to absorb these costs within their own infrastructure. QuFi’s approach seeks to address that duplication by creating a dedicated verification layer that operates independently from settlement systems.

The QuFi Platform separates cryptographic verification from settlement, allowing transactions and other value movements to undergo post-quantum validation before they reach the underlying settlement network.

Verification moves outside individual blockchains

The company said its model draws on the structure of traditional financial markets, where specialized infrastructure supports functions such as trading, clearing, settlement and verification. By comparison, early blockchain networks generally incorporated verification and settlement directly into individual ledgers.

QuFi aims to establish verification as a separate infrastructure function. Its QuFi Network consists of independent verification nodes that perform cryptographic validation upstream and provide compact proofs to participating settlement systems.

Under this structure, verification takes place before value is transferred. The receiving settlement system can independently validate the resulting proof while continuing to operate without major changes to its existing settlement architecture.

The approach is intended to turn verification from a duplicated expense carried independently by multiple blockchains into shared infrastructure capable of supporting several networks.

Hybrid security architecture targets quantum threats

The QuFi Platform uses a hybrid post-quantum security architecture incorporating ML-DSA-65 under FIPS 204 for digital signatures, SLH-DSA under FIPS 205 as a separate hash-based signature system, and ML-KEM-1024 under FIPS 203 for secure key encapsulation.

The company said combining cryptographic approaches is intended to provide resilience across multiple security families while addressing long-term requirements for institutional applications.

The platform’s operating model can be summarized as instruction, verification, and settlement. Rather than requiring every settlement network to independently conduct increasingly demanding cryptographic checks, the QuFi infrastructure is designed to perform verification upstream and pass a compact proof to the relevant system.

uBTC demonstrates Bitcoin collateral verification

QuFi has also developed uBTC as a proof-of-concept focused on Bitcoin collateral verification. The implementation independently verifies Bitcoin collateral and generates cryptographic proof governing how associated value can move across participating settlement environments.

The company said the design preserves Bitcoin’s existing architecture while adding post-quantum verification and broader interoperability capabilities.

The full lifecycle is reportedly operating on Bitcoin Testnet4. Minting, burning, and redemption processes use hybrid ML-DSA and SLH-DSA verification challenges, while redemption ultimately settles through a standard Bitcoin transaction that can be independently checked on the Bitcoin blockchain.

QuFi’s uBTC implementation is intended to demonstrate that post-quantum verification can be added around existing settlement infrastructure rather than requiring the underlying blockchain to be redesigned.

Node program expands decentralized verification capacity

The launch coincides with QuFi opening applications for its Genesis Node Program. The initial group of independent node operators is expected to support the QuFi Network and expand decentralized verification capacity.

Participation tracks are available for EVM-compatible ecosystems, infrastructure providers, institutional custodians, and enterprise partners. QuFi also plans additional integrations involving EVM-compatible networks, Layer 1 blockchains such as Stellar and Solana, and broader financial infrastructure.

The company is positioning the platform against three converging trends: the migration toward post-quantum cryptography, the expected expansion of tokenized assets, and increasing interconnection among blockchains, stablecoins, payment systems, and tokenized financial products.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology finalized its initial post-quantum cryptography standards in August 2024, increasing pressure on organizations to begin migration toward quantum-resistant systems.

QuFi said it is seeking strategic partners and investors to support network development, institutional integrations, and ecosystem expansion. The company is positioning independent post-quantum verification as a shared infrastructure layer that could allow multiple blockchain and financial systems to strengthen cryptographic security without duplicating the same verification burden.
