Sui Expands in Korea with Stablecoin Payments and Messaging SDK

Sui, a major blockchain platform, has entered into a partnership with t’order, a widely used table ordering service in South Korea, to introduce next-generation stablecoin payment solutions. The collaboration is expected to reshape the country’s digital payments ecosystem by combining advanced technologies such as QR codes and facial recognition for secure and seamless transactions. The Sui Foundation indicated that the initiative is particularly aimed at improving operations for small businesses.

Through this alliance, Sui gains direct access to one of Korea’s largest payment infrastructures. By integrating with both Sui and Walrus, t’order seeks to deliver a native Korean Won (KRW) stablecoin designed for ultra-fast and reliable transactions. Walrus’s cost-efficient framework for handling large-scale payment data and loyalty programs on-chain is anticipated to strengthen this rollout.

Christian Thompson, Managing Director of the Sui Foundation, reportedly emphasized that the adoption of stablecoins and crypto-based payment methods is accelerating globally. He suggested that Sui’s collaboration with t’order positioned the platform at the forefront of this transition. The project is expected to impact Korea’s food service sector, which holds an estimated value of over 190 trillion KRW, by enhancing the overall consumer experience.

Supporting small businesses through low-cost transactions

t’order has long operated a zero-fee payment model, helping small businesses reduce costs. By embedding stablecoin-based payments into its real-time communication network, the company is extending its mission to create a sustainable commerce ecosystem centered on small enterprises.

Currently, t’order processes about 350 million US dollars in monthly transactions, amounting to more than 4.3 billion dollars annually. The upcoming KRW stablecoin system is expected to replace traditional card fees with minimal transaction costs of around KRW 13 per payment, potentially saving small businesses nearly KRW 150 billion every year.

With a nationwide infrastructure managing around 300,000 point-of-sale devices and cumulative transactions exceeding KRW 10 trillion, t’order is well positioned to rapidly deploy stablecoin-powered rewards, settlements, and payment systems through its partnership with Sui. Company representatives described the collaboration as a step toward establishing a new payment and settlement model tailored for small businesses.

Sui Stack Messaging SDK launched in alpha

Alongside its payments initiative, the Sui Foundation has also announced the release of the Sui Stack Messaging SDK, currently available in alpha. This developer toolkit is designed to bring secure, programmable messaging directly into Web3 applications, tackling long-standing issues of fragmentation and security vulnerabilities in crypto-based communication.

Traditional messaging in the crypto space often relies on centralized platforms and APIs, which can expose users to phishing threats and disconnect conversations from wallet-related activities. The Sui Stack Messaging SDK is intended to resolve these challenges by embedding verifiable, encrypted communication within the same framework that manages digital assets, decentralized storage, and access control.

The SDK integrates seamlessly with the existing Sui Stack. It leverages the Sui blockchain for identity verification, Walrus for decentralized storage, and Seal for secrets management. This setup ensures that conversations are private, recoverable, and composable, giving developers the ability to integrate communication features directly into their applications without external dependencies.

Advanced features for Web3 communication

The toolkit goes beyond being a conventional messaging library. It introduces several advanced capabilities, including end-to-end encrypted conversations, secure groups for community and customer support, verifiable onchain message storage, and event-driven messaging linked to blockchain activities such as NFT minting or governance voting. These features allow for diverse use cases, from enabling in-app support to powering secure cross-app workflows and AI-driven agent communications.

While the SDK is in its early alpha phase, the Sui Foundation noted that future updates will include enhanced group messaging, richer media support, and deeper integration with the broader Sui and Walrus ecosystems. Developers can already access the SDK through GitHub and are encouraged to contribute feedback that may influence future releases.
