Tonkeeper Rebrands as Keeper in Major Multichain Expansion

keeper wallet

Tonkeeper, a major self-custodial wallet in The Open Network ecosystem, is rebranding as Keeper and expanding beyond TON to support six additional blockchain networks. The move marks a significant shift for a wallet that has built a user base of more than 77 million registered accounts around TON.

Keeper will support Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum and Base alongside TON, turning the previously single-chain-focused product into a multichain wallet. The expansion puts Keeper into competition with established self-custodial wallets while broadening its potential use across different parts of the digital asset market.

Keeper is expanding from a TON-focused wallet into a multichain platform supporting seven blockchain networks, allowing users to manage assets across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Base and TON through a single application.

User Activity Drives the Rebrand

The company said the decision reflects changes in how its existing users manage digital assets. According to Keeper, many users who originally relied on Tonkeeper for TON-based assets have increasingly begun holding Bitcoin, Ether, stablecoins, and assets on Ethereum-compatible layer-2 networks.

The company said this multichain behavior has resulted in users relying on several applications to manage different assets. The Tonkeeper name therefore became less representative of the broader functionality being developed.

The rebrand does not signal a departure from TON. Instead, Keeper is maintaining its original TON integration while extending its services to other major networks. The strategy is intended to provide users with a single self-custodial interface for managing assets across multiple blockchains.

The change follows a management transition announced in August, when The Open Platform assumed operational leadership of Tonkeeper. Co-founders Oleg Andreev and Oleg Illarionov continue to hold shares in the business, while The Open Platform now has a more direct role in product and business strategy.

Battery Remains a Key Feature

One of Keeper’s existing features, Battery, will remain part of the product. The system allows transaction fees to be covered on behalf of users, reducing the need to maintain the native gas token of each blockchain for routine transactions.

The company plans to expand Battery coverage across its supported networks over the next year. The feature could become increasingly relevant as users move between blockchains with different transaction-fee systems.

Keeper also plans to expand beyond asset storage by introducing cross-chain swaps, DeFi services, spending tools, a decentralized application browser, a loyalty program, and perpetual futures trading during the coming year.

The company has not provided specific release dates for those planned products. Their development indicates an effort to turn the wallet into a broader financial platform rather than limiting it to custody and basic asset management.

Building a Broader Web3 Platform

Keeper’s existing wallet architecture allows users to connect blockchain wallets and verify ownership through cryptographic signatures without disclosing private keys or seed phrases. The approach preserves the self-custodial structure while enabling access to assets across multiple networks.

The planned cross-chain swap functionality could further reduce the need for users to move between separate applications when exchanging assets on different networks. DeFi integrations and spending features would extend the wallet’s role into additional financial activities.

The proposed perpetual futures functionality would represent a further expansion into derivatives trading. If implemented, users would be able to access leveraged trading products through a self-custodial wallet environment rather than relying exclusively on separate trading platforms.

TON Ecosystem Moves Toward Multichain

Keeper’s transformation reflects a wider shift among projects originating in the TON ecosystem. MyTonWallet rebranded as My Wallet in June after expanding its network coverage, while TON-based decentralized exchange STON.fi introduced cross-chain swaps in July.

The broader movement comes as TON becomes increasingly connected with Telegram’s digital-asset infrastructure. Telegram has expanded the role of TON in its crypto-enabled mini-app ecosystem, while The Open Platform has continued developing products around the network.

The Open Platform also operates other TON-related products, including the self-custodial TON Wallet integrated into Telegram. The company raised $28.5 million at a $1 billion valuation in 2025, according to the report.

Competition Shifts Toward Financial Services

The multichain wallet market has increasingly expanded beyond simple asset storage as providers add swaps, staking, decentralized finance and other financial services. Keeper’s planned features place it within that broader transition.

With more than 77 million registered users, the wallet begins its multichain expansion with an established distribution base. The key operational challenge will be converting users who initially joined for TON-related activity into regular users of its broader network and financial services.

For users, the multichain expansion could consolidate assets and blockchain activity that previously required several applications, while retaining self-custody and avoiding the need to share private keys or seed phrases.

Keeper‘s rebrand therefore represents both a change in product identity and a broader strategic effort by The Open Platform to extend a successful TON-focused wallet into a wider multichain digital-asset market.
