Ujitsu Brings Blockchain Verification to Jiu-Jitsu Belts

Addressing Longstanding Verification Challenges

Ujitsu has announced an integration with ADI Chain to introduce blockchain-based verification for belt promotions in jiu-jitsu. The initiative represents a significant effort to modernize how achievements are recorded in a sport that has expanded rapidly across countries and training institutions.

As jiu-jitsu continues to grow globally, the absence of a standardized and reliable system for verifying belt promotions has remained a persistent issue. Athlete records are often stored within individual academies or dispersed across multiple platforms, making them difficult to authenticate over time. This challenge becomes particularly evident when practitioners relocate, change training environments, or lose access to historical documentation.

Blockchain Integration for Permanent Records

The newly introduced system is designed to create a permanent and verifiable record of belt promotions. When a coach confirms a promotion through the Ujitsu application, the information is recorded on-chain using ADI Chain’s infrastructure. Once stored, the data becomes immutable, ensuring that it cannot be altered or removed.

The platform maintains the traditional structure of decision-making in jiu-jitsu, where promotions remain the responsibility of coaches and athletes. Instead of influencing the evaluation process, the technology focuses on preserving the outcome in a secure and transparent manner. This approach ensures that achievements are documented without interfering with the sport’s established practices.

Benefits for Athletes and Academies

The integration provides athletes with direct access to their verified promotion records within the Ujitsu platform. Each record is linked to coach approval and supported by blockchain-based confirmation, offering a clear and trustworthy representation of an individual’s progress.

For coaches and academies, the system introduces a more reliable method of maintaining athlete histories. By creating a consistent and accessible record, the platform helps simplify verification across different regions and organizations. This is particularly valuable in a global community where practitioners frequently travel, compete internationally, and train under various instructors.

Andrey Lazorenko indicated that athletes training in different parts of the world had previously faced difficulties in proving their rank across academies. He conveyed that the collaboration with Ujitsu addresses this issue by establishing permanent and portable records through blockchain infrastructure.

Similarly, Merdan Gurbanov emphasized that belt promotions carry deep significance in jiu-jitsu, yet there had been no consistent method to preserve and verify them over time. He explained that the integration ensures achievements remain transparent, intact, and globally verifiable.

Choosing ADI Chain for Reliability and Compliance

Ujitsu selected ADI Chain due to its emphasis on data integrity, compliance, and institutional-grade infrastructure. These attributes are essential for maintaining records that are expected to remain valid and accessible over extended periods. ADI Chain is recognized as a Layer 2 blockchain designed to support stablecoins and real-world asset applications, particularly within the Middle East and North Africa region.

The network operates with a focus on security, efficiency, and regulatory compliance, positioning it as a suitable foundation for long-term data storage. Its role in supporting financial infrastructure further underscores its reliability for handling sensitive and enduring records.

Expanding Possibilities for Digital Athlete Records

The integration also highlights the broader adoption of blockchain technology beyond financial applications. Ujitsu, a technology company established in the United Arab Emirates, continues to develop tools that connect athletes, coaches, and academies while simplifying operational processes.

Looking ahead, the platform may extend its capabilities beyond belt promotions to include verified competition records, digital athlete identities, and comprehensive data management systems. Such developments could play an important role as jiu-jitsu continues to expand internationally and as participants seek portable and trustworthy records of their achievements.

Toward a More Transparent Sporting Ecosystem

The collaboration between Ujitsu and ADI Chain reflects a growing recognition of the need for secure and verifiable data in sports. By leveraging blockchain technology, the initiative aims to ensure that achievements in jiu-jitsu are preserved accurately and remain accessible regardless of geographic or institutional changes.

As the sport evolves, the introduction of immutable, globally recognized records may contribute to a more transparent and interconnected ecosystem. The partnership underscores the idea that accomplishments earned through discipline and dedication should be preserved in a manner that endures over time.
