Collaboration Brings Stablecoin Banking to Layer-1 Infrastructure

Crypto payments platform Wirex has entered into a strategic partnership with Arc, the Layer-1 blockchain developed by Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin. The collaboration is intended to strengthen stablecoin-based banking and payment infrastructure by combining Wirex’s payment technology with Arc’s blockchain network. As part of the agreement, the companies are introducing Wirex One, a new application built on Arc to support real-world stablecoin transactions and financial services.

The partnership will integrate Wirex’s payment infrastructure with Arc’s Layer-1 blockchain while launching Wirex One to enhance stablecoin banking, card settlements, and digital payment services.

The initiative reflects the growing effort across the digital asset industry to bridge blockchain technology with traditional financial systems. Both companies are seeking to improve the efficiency and accessibility of stablecoin-powered financial services by enabling faster settlements and streamlined payment experiences for consumers and businesses.

Arc has been designed specifically to support production-grade financial applications that require reliability, scalability, and predictable performance. The blockchain incorporates features intended for institutional use, including predictable transaction costs, deterministic settlement capabilities, and optional privacy functions that can accommodate regulatory and enterprise requirements.

By leveraging Arc’s infrastructure, Wirex aims to enhance the efficiency of stablecoin transfers while enabling more seamless integration of digital assets into everyday financial activity. The companies indicated that combining blockchain settlement with established payment infrastructure could simplify the use of stablecoins for routine banking, spending, and cross-border transactions.

Focus on Card Settlements and Banking Services

Wirex brings more than a decade of experience in digital payments to the collaboration, having processed over $20 billion in payment volume during its operations. The company also maintains principal memberships with both Visa and Mastercard, allowing it to connect blockchain-based payment services with established global card networks.

The initial phase of the integration will support non-U.S. card settlements using the USDC and EURC stablecoins. This approach is expected to provide users with greater access to stablecoin-powered payment solutions while improving the efficiency of settlement processes for eligible transactions.

The initial deployment will support non-U.S. card settlements using USDC and EURC, expanding practical stablecoin payment options through Wirex’s existing financial infrastructure.

Beyond payment processing, the partnership will extend Wirex’s Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform to the Arc ecosystem. This expansion will allow financial institutions, payment providers, and technology partners to develop stablecoin settlement solutions that can be integrated into banking services, payment cards, and other financial products.

The companies indicated that broader integration between blockchain infrastructure and conventional financial systems remains essential for increasing stablecoin adoption. They believe that combining Arc’s settlement capabilities with Wirex’s payment products can reduce friction in everyday financial transactions while supporting greater use of regulated digital currencies.

Growing Institutional Interest in Stablecoins

The partnership reflects a broader industry trend toward incorporating stablecoins into mainstream payment infrastructure. Financial institutions and payment providers have increasingly explored blockchain technology as a means of improving settlement speed, reducing costs, and enhancing cross-border payment efficiency.

Arc is positioning itself as a blockchain specifically designed for institutional and high-volume financial applications, making it suitable for organizations requiring dependable settlement infrastructure. Its architecture seeks to address enterprise demands for consistent transaction processing while maintaining compatibility with regulated financial services.

The collaboration underscores the industry’s accelerating push to connect stablecoin infrastructure with traditional banking and payment networks, supporting broader institutional and consumer adoption.

For Wirex, the agreement represents an opportunity to expand the real-world utility of USDC and EURC while strengthening its portfolio of blockchain-enabled financial services. The company expects the integration to improve cross-border payment efficiency and provide users with a more seamless experience when using stablecoins for everyday banking, spending, and settlements.

As stablecoins continue to gain traction in global financial markets, partnerships between blockchain developers and payment providers are becoming increasingly important. The Wirex-Arc collaboration demonstrates how digital asset infrastructure is evolving beyond cryptocurrency trading toward practical financial applications that support consumers, businesses, and institutional users alike.
