TourFi Introduces Digital Incentives for Travel and Tourism

TourFi Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Abba Industries Inc., has launched Africa Tourism Pass, or APASS, a blockchain-enabled tourism infrastructure platform intended to improve coordination, verification, and participation across Africa’s fragmented tourism economy.

The launch includes the deployment of the APASS utility token on BNB Smart Chain and the start of public decentralized trading through an APASS/USDT liquidity pool on PancakeSwap. The development provides the initial technical and market infrastructure for a broader tourism finance ecosystem designed to connect travelers, tourism operators, and digital service providers.

APASS is designed to create a unified verification and incentive layer connecting accommodation, transportation, and tourism experiences across Africa without requiring businesses to replace their existing systems.

The platform operates through TourFI, a tourism finance infrastructure model that links travel activity with programmable incentives, verifiable participation, and interoperable digital services. APASS is intended to work alongside established booking platforms, payment systems, national currencies, and commercial relationships rather than serve as a replacement for them.

Travelers can continue using their preferred booking services and payment methods. APASS operates as a separate digital layer that recognizes verified tourism activity and provides access to incentives and other ecosystem benefits.

Platform Expands Beyond Hotels and Lodging

APASS initially focused on accommodation providers, including hotels, lodges, guesthouses, campsites, serviced apartments, and short-term rental businesses. The company has expanded the platform’s operating model through the APASS Mobility and Alternative Accommodation Framework.

The expanded framework organizes tourism activity into three connected areas: stay, move, and experience.

The stay category includes hotels, lodges, guesthouses, serviced apartments, campsites, short-term rentals, and other hospitality services. The move category covers ride-hailing services, airport transportation, vehicle rentals, shuttle operations, and intercity travel. The experience category includes tours, safaris, attractions, excursions, events, and other tourism activities.

The expansion retains the platform’s original verification and incentive architecture while applying it to a broader range of travel services. This approach is intended to treat lodging, transportation, and tourism experiences as connected components of a single travel economy.

The expanded APASS framework could enable verified tourism activity to be recognized across multiple travel services, creating a more connected cross-border tourism network.

The platform is designed to support phased verification. During the initial stage, participation may be confirmed through booking records, receipts, invoices, travel documents, location information, and verification by participating operators.

As the network develops, APASS may introduce additional tools, including structured document uploads, QR-based validation, operator dashboards, receipt verification procedures, and integrations with participating tourism platforms and businesses.

Rewards Framework for Travelers and Tourism Operators

Travelers can earn APASS Points through verified tourism activity. Under the current rewards model, the equivalent of every $0.10 spent with a participating tourism operator generates one APASS Point. The points may be used to access APASS tokens and other benefits defined within the platform’s ecosystem.

Tourism operators may use the network to support customer acquisition, encourage repeat bookings, improve traveler retention, and participate in a wider tourism market. Businesses can join without an onboarding fee and are not required to replace their existing booking, payment, or operational systems.

TourFi founder Simon Kapenda indicated that Africa’s tourism sector remains supported by fragmented infrastructure across accommodation, transportation, and travel experiences. He said APASS had been developed as a common participation framework capable of connecting travelers, tourism businesses, and digital infrastructure while allowing existing platforms and commercial systems to remain in place.

Kapenda also indicated that the token’s deployment on BNB Smart Chain and its decentralized market launch on PancakeSwap established the initial technology and market foundation for a wider TourFI ecosystem covering where travelers stay, how they travel, and the activities they experience.

The APASS token operates as a BEP-20 utility token and is intended to support verification, access, incentives, and ecosystem participation rather than function as a payment method for tourism services.

The project represents an effort to apply blockchain infrastructure to tourism coordination without changing how travelers make bookings or payments. Its future development will depend on the expansion of participating operators, verification capabilities, and digital integrations across Africa’s tourism sector.
