Rain Launches Multi-Chain Stablecoin Wallets for Embedded Payments

New Wallets Integrate Stablecoin Storage, Card Payments and Transfers

Rain, a US-based stablecoin payments platform, has launched Rain Wallets, an embedded wallet service that enables business partners to offer stablecoin accounts directly within their applications. The launch expands the company’s payments infrastructure beyond card spending, allowing users to receive, hold, send, and spend stablecoins through a single balance.

The wallets use the same integration infrastructure that Rain partners already access for card issuance, rewards programs and fund transfers. The approach is intended to simplify the development of stablecoin payment services by connecting wallet balances with existing financial products.

Rain’s new wallet infrastructure allows businesses to integrate stablecoin storage, card payments and money transfers within their applications, creating a unified account for managing digital funds.

Non-custodial wallets, which allow users to control their own private keys, are available to partners immediately. Rain plans to introduce custodial wallets and features that enable users to earn returns on stablecoin balances before the end of 2026.

Wallets Become the Core of Rain’s Payments Platform

Rain is positioning the wallet as the central account connecting its payments services. The company initially focused on making stablecoins usable through payment cards and is now extending that model to cover the broader movement of funds.

Users can receive money through virtual accounts or payment onramps, hold the resulting stablecoin balances, and use those funds for card purchases. They can also transfer money to bank accounts in local currencies through Rain’s offramps and payout services, with the entire process available within a partner’s application.

Wallet balances directly fund Rain-issued payment cards, which are accepted at 175 million merchant locations worldwide. For businesses, the integrated infrastructure offers a single provider for wallet management, card payments, and money movement, potentially reducing the complexity of coordinating multiple service providers.

Rain illustrated the model through an example involving a freelancer in Mexico who receives a US dollar payment from a US-based client. The funds arrive through a virtual account and are credited to the wallet in stablecoins without requiring manual conversion. The freelancer can then use a Rain-issued card for purchases or transfer Mexican pesos to a local bank account through the company’s global payout network.

Support for 12 Blockchains and Multiple Digital Assets

Rain’s non-custodial wallets currently support 12 blockchain networks: Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, BNB Smart Chain, Celo, Ethereum, Monad, Plasma, Optimism, Polygon, Solana, and ZKsync.

The wallets can hold USDC, USDT, other stablecoins, and additional cryptocurrency assets on supported networks, although available functionality varies by blockchain. The multi-chain structure gives partners flexibility to support different networks and stablecoins rather than relying on a single blockchain.

Users can access embedded wallets through passkeys or verification codes sent to their email addresses or phone numbers, eliminating the need to manage a traditional seed phrase during the sign-in process.

A wallet used to just be where stablecoins sat.

Doing anything useful with them meant stitching together separate providers to onramp, spend, earn, send, and offramp.

Rain partners can now offer their customers all of that from one wallet, with one integration.

Open Infrastructure Supports Existing Wallet Providers

Rain has also designed its platform to work with third-party infrastructure. Businesses that already use external wallet providers, including non-custodial wallet services, can connect those wallets to Rain’s card issuance, rewards, onramp and payout products without switching to Rain Wallets.

Partners that adopt Rain’s wallets, meanwhile, receive integrated card funding capabilities as part of the broader platform.

Pooja Shah, Rain’s head of product, said businesses introducing stablecoins to their customers need to provide users with a place to store their digital assets. She explained that integrating wallets with the company’s other services makes balances available for spending and transfers as soon as the funds arrive. Businesses can use Rain for their entire payments infrastructure or retain existing wallet providers while connecting to Rain’s services.

Stablecoin Payments Move Beyond Card Spending

The launch reflects a broader effort to make stablecoins function more like conventional money within consumer and business applications. Rather than treating digital assets solely as instruments for storage or transfers, Rain is connecting them to everyday payment activities.

By combining wallet balances with card issuance, onramps, offramps, and payouts, Rain aims to support the full stablecoin payment lifecycle, from receiving funds to spending or transferring them into local currencies.

The planned introduction of custodial wallets and earning features before the end of 2026 could further expand the options available to businesses building stablecoin-based financial products. The company’s strategy centers on giving partners flexible infrastructure while allowing users to manage digital funds through familiar application interfaces.
