In a recent announcement, Portfolio Minister Floyd Green revealed that blockchain technology would be utilized to ensure that consumers around the world can verify the genuine origin of their coffee purchases.
Minister Green shared his excitement about how the new technology would track the journey of every ounce of Blue Mountain Coffee. At the launch of the Blue Mountain Coffee Festival 2025, held at Devon House in St Andrew, Minister Green highlighted the problem of counterfeit coffee, which undermines the credibility of the genuine product. To address this issue, each batch of the coffee will now feature a unique Quick Response (QR) code that consumers can scan. This code will offer detailed insights into the coffee’s journey, from its origin and harvest date to the specifics of its processing, ensuring transparency in the supply chain.

The new system will provide consumers worldwide with a tool to verify the authenticity of the product they purchase.
