Bowmore, one of Scotland’s oldest whisky distilleries, has unveiled its first collection of tokenized whisky bottles in partnership with Avalanche, the decentralized Layer 1 blockchain platform. The special line is being offered directly through nft.suntory.com, with presales commencing immediately and the official debut scheduled for September 30, 2025, during TOKEN2049 in Singapore.
Founded in 1779, Bowmore has stood on the shores of Lochindaal for over 240 years, building a legacy of craftsmanship in whisky making. The new initiative represents a fusion of heritage and technology, signaling a step toward modern forms of ownership that link physical rarity to digital proof.
Merging tradition with blockchain technology
Each bottle in the new collection is tied to a uniquely numbered NFT minted on Avalanche’s C-Chain. The integration ensures that collectors not only acquire a physical product but also secure verifiable digital ownership. Embedded NFC tags in every bottle link directly to its NFT counterpart, providing tamper-proof authentication and a transparent record of ownership and consumption.
Buyers will be able to claim their NFTs through Suntory’s website, which accommodates both crypto wallets and traditional email logins. This dual approach is intended to appeal equally to seasoned Web3 users and conventional whisky collectors. Redemption of the bottles will be available in person at TOKEN2049 Singapore.
Exclusive editions for collectors
The inaugural drop features two tiers of offerings. Leading the release is the Collector’s Edition, priced at US$5,500 and limited to just eight NFTs. This edition includes a Bowmore 30-Year-Old bottle, exclusive glassware, and an opportunity to meet Emin Gün Sirer, the founder and chief executive of Ava Labs.
For enthusiasts seeking a more accessible entry point, the Bowmore 12-Year-Old edition has been priced at US$180 and limited to 150 bottles. Both editions reinforce Bowmore’s focus on combining traditional craftsmanship with new models of ownership.

Industry perspectives on the collaboration
Executives from Bowmore emphasized that the project reflects the distillery’s commitment to honoring heritage while embracing innovation. They explained that working with Avalanche allows the company to present whisky in a new dimension, combining rarity and artisanal expertise with blockchain’s security and transparency. The tokenized release was described as a step forward in redefining how collectors and enthusiasts can engage with premium spirits.
Representatives from Ava Labs highlighted that Bowmore had chosen Avalanche due to its scalability, low transaction fees, and rapid finality, all of which are essential for bridging physical assets with digital ownership. They noted that the collaboration extended beyond whisky, signaling a new paradigm in luxury goods where consumption and ownership can be recorded on-chain.
Celebrating the launch in Singapore
To mark the debut, Bowmore and Avalanche will host a private omakase dinner at Wakuda Singapore on September 30, 2025. Eight holders of the Bowmore 30-Year Avalanche Edition will be invited to join industry leaders and select guests for this exclusive event. A separate VIP tasting is also planned, offering press, collectors, and crypto-native buyers a firsthand experience of the bottles.
A glimpse into the future of collectibles
The Bowmore x Avalanche initiative has been described as more than a collectible release. By merging centuries-old whisky-making heritage with cutting-edge blockchain infrastructure, the project illustrates how tradition and innovation can coexist. Industry participants view this as a model for the future of luxury goods, where authenticity, ownership, and experience are enhanced through digital technology.
