The Cardano Foundation has entered into a strategic partnership with the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) to evaluate the use of blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies across Brazil’s sports ecosystem. The collaboration is intended to examine how emerging digital tools can enhance sports administration, improve transparency, and streamline operational efficiency for athletes, coaches, federations, and fans.
According to the Brazilian Olympic Committee, the agreement establishes a framework for testing innovative technologies that could modernize various aspects of sports management. The initiative is expected to focus on practical applications that address everyday administrative challenges while strengthening trust and accountability within the sector.
Three-Year Roadmap Targets Key Areas
The partnership is built around a three-year development roadmap covering four primary areas: digital identity and certification, fan engagement, equipment tracking, and governance and transparency in funding programs.
One of the central objectives involves the creation of secure digital identities for athletes and coaches. These digital credentials could enable globally verifiable certifications while reducing reliance on paper-based documentation across sports organizations. The partners believe such a system could simplify record management and improve the reliability of professional credentials.
The collaboration will test blockchain-powered digital identities and certifications designed to create secure, globally verifiable records for athletes and coaches.
Another major focus is the implementation of intelligent equipment-tracking systems. By combining blockchain technology with IoT capabilities, sports organizations could maintain trusted digital records for equipment monitoring and management. COB indicated that permanent, auditable, and verifiable records may help strengthen information security while improving day-to-day operational processes.
Initial Testing Phase Underway
The Cardano Foundation revealed that the first executive workshop associated with the initiative was conducted recently, marking the transition from planning to practical implementation. The workshop served as the starting point for discussions on pilot projects that are expected to be introduced in the coming months.
Institutional testing programs are anticipated to follow as both organizations begin evaluating real-world applications of the technologies under consideration. While specific sports, athletes, and implementation dates have not yet been disclosed, the partners indicated that initial projects are currently being developed.

Officials from the Brazilian Olympic Committee described the agreement as more than a technological upgrade. The organization emphasized that innovation should play a role in strengthening confidence among athletes, sports federations, and the broader public. Committee representatives also suggested that the initiative positions the organization at the forefront of digital transformation within the sports sector.
The three-year roadmap includes blockchain, AI, and IoT applications aimed at improving governance, transparency, equipment management, and fan engagement across Brazilian sports.
Part of Cardano’s Broader Expansion in Brazil
The new agreement aligns with Cardano’s ongoing efforts to expand its presence in Brazil through partnerships focused on education, governance, and public-sector innovation. In recent months, the Cardano Foundation has collaborated with SERPRO, Brazil’s state-owned information technology provider, to promote blockchain education and explore government-related use cases.
The foundation also partnered with the University of Brasília to establish the first Cardano Project Development Lab in Latin America. That initiative focuses on research and development involving blockchain, AI, IoT, digital identity systems, governance solutions, and public-sector applications.
Focus on Transparency Rather Than Payments
For the Brazilian Olympic Committee, the partnership provides an opportunity to evaluate whether public blockchain infrastructure can improve administrative processes, recordkeeping accuracy, internal oversight, and stakeholder trust. Early pilot programs are expected to determine the practical benefits of these technologies within a national sports organization.
Unlike many blockchain initiatives, the partnership is not centered on token launches or payment products, but instead focuses on identity management, transparency, governance, education, and trusted recordkeeping.
The collaboration highlights the growing interest in applying blockchain technology beyond financial services. By exploring real-world applications in sports administration, both organizations aim to demonstrate how emerging technologies can support more efficient, transparent, and accountable operations across the industry.
