Fairblock Launches CUSD Stablecoin on Arbitrum With Private Transfers

CUSD brings confidential payments to institutional blockchain use

Fairblock has introduced CUSD, a stablecoin built on PYUSDx that is launching on the Arbitrum blockchain with a focus on privacy-enabled payments and institutional financial applications.

CUSD is designed to allow users to choose between public and private transfers, with private transactions concealing payment amounts and account balances from public blockchain visibility.

The launch addresses a growing challenge for organizations using blockchain-based financial infrastructure. While public ledgers provide transparent transaction records, that visibility can expose commercially sensitive information, including payment amounts, treasury movements, and account balances.

Fairblock is positioning CUSD as an alternative for users who need blockchain settlement while requiring greater control over financial information. The stablecoin is intended to support institutional applications such as payroll and treasury management, alongside privacy-focused transactions for individual users.

Privacy features target sensitive financial data

CUSD is built on PYUSDx and made its debut on Arbitrum, an Ethereum layer-2 network. Its private transfer functionality is intended to conceal selected financial details while retaining the underlying benefits of blockchain-based settlement.

For businesses, the ability to protect transaction values could be particularly relevant when blockchain systems are used for recurring payments or treasury operations. Payroll transactions, for example, can contain information that organizations may not want publicly visible. Treasury transfers can similarly reveal the scale and timing of corporate financial activity.

The approach also targets individual users who want greater privacy when conducting on-chain transactions. Rather than treating every transfer as fully public, CUSD introduces a mechanism through which users can select a more confidential transaction mode.

The project is supported by M0, PayPal, MoonPay and Predicate, adding established participants from payments, digital assets and blockchain infrastructure to the initiative.

Institutional use is a key focus

Fairblock is targeting CUSD at financial applications where privacy and programmable blockchain settlement need to operate together. Institutional payroll and treasury management are among the use cases identified for the stablecoin.

The combination could allow companies to explore on-chain financial operations without exposing all transaction details to the broader public. This is particularly relevant as financial institutions and businesses experiment with stablecoins for payments, settlement and internal money movement.

By combining stablecoin-based settlement with private transfers, CUSD is aimed at giving institutions a way to use public blockchain infrastructure without publicly exposing sensitive payment amounts and account balances.

Fairblock also plans to use economic incentives to encourage adoption. The company said additional details about those incentives will be disclosed as the project develops.

The launch comes as stablecoins continue to expand beyond their traditional role as trading and settlement assets. Developers and financial institutions are increasingly exploring stablecoins for payments, corporate finance and other applications where speed and programmability can be combined with digital settlement.

Arbitrum provides the initial blockchain deployment

The decision to launch CUSD on Arbitrum places the stablecoin within an established Ethereum scaling environment. Arbitrum is designed to process transactions with lower costs and higher throughput than Ethereum’s base layer while maintaining compatibility with its broader ecosystem.

For Fairblock, the deployment provides an initial environment in which the privacy-focused stablecoin can be tested and adopted by users and applications. Future expansion could depend on demand, ecosystem integrations, and the project’s planned incentive structure.

The stablecoin’s architecture also reflects a broader effort to address the tension between blockchain transparency and financial confidentiality. Public transaction records can improve auditability and verification, but unrestricted visibility can create problems for businesses that need to protect sensitive commercial information.

CUSD attempts to address that issue by offering users both public and private transfer options rather than requiring every transaction to follow a single visibility model.

Market backdrop

The CUSD launch coincides with broader activity across the cryptocurrency market. Market data cited in the report showed mixed performance among major digital assets on Oct. 2, with 37 of 50 tracked cryptocurrencies rising and 12 declining.

Those market movements provide broader context for the stablecoin launch but are separate from CUSD’s underlying development.

Fairblock‘s immediate objective is to establish CUSD as a privacy-enabled stablecoin for institutional and individual use, with adoption incentives expected to play a role in expanding its ecosystem. The project’s progress will depend on how effectively private blockchain transactions can be integrated into real-world payroll, treasury, and payment workflows while preserving the usability and transparency expected from stablecoin infrastructure.
