Graphite Launches Reputation Phonebook to Tackle Global Scam Calls

Decentralized identity meets telecom fraud prevention in new Web3 initiative

Graphite Network

In response to the global surge in phone-based scams—from deceptive lottery schemes in South Korea to impersonation frauds in India—Graphite Network has introduced the Reputation Phonebook, a decentralized solution aimed at restoring trust in phone communications. Built on its Layer-1 blockchain, the Phonebook functions as a tool for verifying number ownership and recording on-chain reputation tied to each phone number.

According to Graphite, the increasing misuse of AI-generated voices and spoofed identities in scam calls prompted the creation of this product. The tool allows individuals to confirm if a caller’s number has a positive or negative reputation before answering. Using a simple frontend interface, users can verify ownership through SMS or Telegram, then link their number to a smart contract without disclosing any connection between their wallet and the phone number.

Once verified, numbers begin accumulating reputation points on-chain. These points can be used to vote on the trustworthiness of other numbers, and because the process is fully transparent, anyone can review the reputation history. The weight of votes depends on voter credibility, and all actions are permanently recorded on the blockchain, making abuse more difficult.

Real-World Use Cases in DeFi, TradFi, and Personal Safety

Graphite Network emphasizes that the Reputation Phonebook has practical implications for individuals, decentralized finance (DeFi), traditional finance (TradFi), and broader online communities. For individuals, the system enables verification of suspicious calls, reducing the risk of impersonation, emergency scams, and voice cloning. Users can reject or report calls from numbers with poor reputations, helping prevent financial losses.

In financial services, both decentralized and traditional, the Phonebook provides a way to assess new users during onboarding. Verified numbers with strong on-chain reputations can be used as a marker for credibility. Platforms can apply zk-proof filters, grant tiered access, and enhance Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance while preserving user privacy.

The feature also enhances fraud prevention. Negative votes tied to a phone number can lead to automated blacklisting or shadowbanning, reducing the exposure of platforms to malicious actors. Since the reputation system weights votes based on the voter’s own trust score, coordinated manipulation becomes difficult.

📢 Reputation Phonebook is LIVE!

We’re excited to announce the release of the Reputation Phonebook MVP — a decentralized tool that lets anyone check, build, and share trust scores for phone numbers on-chain.

Broader Graphite Ecosystem Advancing Rapidly

The Phonebook is part of Graphite Network’s broader mission to bring utility, accountability, and user-centric tools to Web3. Its Proof-of-Authority (PoA) Polymer 2.0 consensus mechanism supports EVM compatibility while keeping energy and gas costs low. The blockchain also includes features such as zk-powered KYC, trust-based smart contracts, and identity-tagged wallets.

Beyond telecom fraud, Graphite’s roadmap includes a reputation-based dating app, blockchain access tools for low-connectivity regions, and a geo-location-based gaming and auction platform. A reputation-weighted voting mechanism is also in development, designed to reduce the influence of capital in decentralized governance by prioritizing trust.

CertiK, a recognized blockchain security firm, has audited Graphite’s smart contracts, confirming their security and functionality. Additionally, the network’s Market-Staking Program has shown high community engagement, with its reward pool expanding significantly. Graphite’s native token, $@G, is set to be listed on BitMart, with the exchange also acting as a strategic partner.

Building Toward a Trust-Driven Web3

Graphite’s community has grown by over 50% in recent months, fueled by developer initiatives, hackathons, and creator contests. Recent infrastructure updates include wallet enhancements, Bitcoin integration, and an improved blockchain explorer with real-time activity leaderboards.

Together, these advancements reflect a blockchain platform maturing behind the scenes. The launch of the Reputation Phonebook highlights a shift toward real-world Web3 applications designed for everyday users. In an environment where scams and impersonation are rampant, Graphite’s phone verification and reputation system could offer much-needed accountability—one call at a time.
