Hasbro-Licensed MONOPOLY Experience Runs on Neo Blockchain

São Paulo attraction uses blockchain to manage real-time gameplay

Neo blockchain

COZ has announced that MONOPOLY Experience: Tesouros do Brasil, a Hasbro-licensed immersive attraction scheduled to open on Sept. 16 in São Paulo, Brazil, will use the Neo blockchain as its underlying technology infrastructure.

The 90-minute attraction represents the largest mainstream brand deployment on Neo to date, with blockchain technology operating entirely in the background. Visitors will participate in an interactive financial and gaming experience without needing cryptocurrency wallets, seed phrases or gas payments.

The attraction uses Neo N3 to maintain the real-time state of physical player cards, including balances, room progress, decisions and eligibility for rewards, turning blockchain into an invisible backend for a mainstream entertainment experience.

The attraction is located at Shopping Cidade São Paulo on Avenida Paulista and will occupy two floors containing five themed Treasure Rooms. Each room represents one of Brazil’s major regions: North, Northeast, Central-West, Southeast and South.

Visitors will receive RFID-enabled investor cards that allow them to progress through the rooms. During the experience, participants will make investment decisions involving Brazilian tourist destinations and experience gains or losses based on those choices.

Physical cards connected to on-chain game state

Each of the physical cards operates as a non-fungible item endpoint on Neo N3. The blockchain serves as the authoritative record for each card, maintaining its initial M$200 balance, current room progression, decisions, and eligibility for rewards.

As visitors move through the attraction, individual stations communicate directly with the smart contract layer. The stations read information from the cards, apply specific game mechanics, and record resulting changes on the blockchain. These mechanics can include balance deductions and probability-based treasure selections.

After a visitor completes the experience, the card is reset on-chain in a single transaction process. This allows the same card to be immediately prepared for another participant rather than requiring a new digital record or a separate backend process.

The architecture allows multiple vendors and operational points to verify card balances and reward redemptions directly against the blockchain, reducing reliance on a shared centralized database and limiting opportunities for client-side manipulation.

The attraction is expected to run through November. Tickets are priced at R$50, while Nubank customers receive a 15% discount. Presales for Nubank customers began Aug. 4, followed by general ticket sales on Aug. 6.

Reusable blockchain hardware targets high visitor volume

The deployment uses ITEM Systems’ AeroGlyph hardware, which consists of NFC-enabled cards designed for high-throughput physical environments. A total of 500 AeroGlyph cards will circulate among visitors throughout the activation.

Rather than functioning primarily as souvenirs, the cards are being deployed as reusable operational infrastructure. Their on-chain state can be reset after each session, allowing them to cycle continuously through attendees.

COZ estimates that the attraction could generate approximately two million blockchain transactions during its operating period. The model is designed to accommodate additional cards without requiring a fundamental redesign of the backend infrastructure.

The project is officially licensed by Hasbro and was created by Businessland, the production company behind an immersive Harry Potter theater experience in Brazil. The attraction is presented by Nubank through Instituto NU, its social-impact initiative focused on education, technology and entrepreneurship, in partnership with Brazil’s Ministry of Culture.

The deployment also extends ITEM Systems’ focus on experiential and gaming applications. It follows the company’s collaboration with Iron Studios at CCXP25 in December 2025, which was another licensed-brand deployment involving its technology.

For COZ, the MONOPOLY attraction provides a large-scale example of blockchain being used in a physical consumer environment rather than being presented as a financial product. Its multi-month operation and reusable card infrastructure demonstrate how blockchain-based game state can support high-volume, real-world brand experiences while remaining largely invisible to consumers.
