South Korea-based Overtake has unveiled a blockchain-powered marketplace on the Sui network, designed to unify web2 and web3 gamers within a single ecosystem. The new platform focuses on facilitating the exchange of in-game items, currencies, and digital collectibles, while at the same time cutting costs and enhancing transactional security.
One of the standout elements of this launch is the introduction of TakeShop, a dedicated builder tool that enables individuals to design their own personalized storefronts. Through this feature, users can display and sell digital assets, incorporate reward mechanisms, and provide multiple payment options. The objective is to make peer-to-peer exchanges more customizable and interactive, encouraging participation from both players and creators.
Drawing on Marketplace Experience
The leadership team at Overtake brings extensive experience from traditional digital marketplaces, having previously contributed to platforms such as ItemBay and ItemMania. This background has influenced the marketplace’s design, particularly its escrow system. Instead of relying solely on a centralized authority, the system uses a two-out-of-three key approach, where the buyer, seller, and Overtake each hold a separate key. For a trade to proceed, at least two parties must approve, which helps curb fraudulent activities, ensures authenticity, and minimizes disputes.
By leveraging blockchain infrastructure, the company emphasized that transaction fees could be reduced by more than half compared to older item-trading platforms. The use of distributed ledgers also ensures improved transparency for all stakeholders, offering both buyers and sellers greater visibility and assurance throughout the process.

Expanding with AI Integration
Looking ahead, Overtake intends to integrate artificial intelligence agents into the platform. These agents are expected to automate price discovery, boost liquidity, and enhance efficiency in the marketplace. For gamers, the integration could result in faster trades and more accurate pricing for rare or in-demand items. The company indicated that the move toward AI-driven tools aims to establish a more seamless and fair trading environment.

Token Incentives to Boost Engagement
To further stimulate user engagement, Overtake is introducing TAKE tokens as part of its ecosystem. Participants will be able to earn these tokens through activities on the platform, with an additional option to stake them for yield-based rewards. Beyond functioning as an incentive mechanism, the tokens are intended to help build a stronger community around the marketplace, rewarding loyal users and fostering a sense of shared ownership.
With this launch, Overtake is positioning itself at the intersection of gaming, blockchain, and digital marketplaces. By combining expertise from earlier item-trading models with blockchain transparency, AI-driven enhancements, and tokenized incentives, the company seeks to reshape how gamers interact with digital assets. The marketplace not only caters to the practical needs of players and creators but also aligns with the growing trend of blending web2 familiarity with web3 innovation.
