In a move seen as a key milestone in blockchain gaming, Punkvism—the developer behind Punky Kongz—has formalized a three-way collaboration with the Korea Mobile Game Association (KMGA) and global blockchain mainnet XPLA. Announced on the 9th of the month, the partnership has been established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and is focused on the development and incubation of next-generation Web3 games.
The agreement signals the start of a broad collaborative framework aimed at supporting emerging game developers navigating the blockchain ecosystem. According to the involved parties, the joint effort is structured to offer holistic support, from project identification and development to strategic onboarding. The collaboration seeks to eliminate common barriers to entry in the Web3 space, particularly for small to mid-sized developers.
As outlined in the MOU, Punkvism, KMGA, and XPLA plan to utilize their distinct strengths to identify high-potential Web3 game projects. Their support will cover the full development lifecycle, including publishing, consulting, technical guidance, and mainnet integration. XPLA is set to play a crucial role by providing customized strategic insights for each incubated initiative while also ensuring continuity and long-term support post-launch.
This initiative builds on a foundation laid earlier this year when KMGA and Punkvism introduced the Web3 Game Acceleration Consortium. That program was designed to offer foundational resources such as consulting, publishing support, and strategic planning to Web3 game developers. With XPLA joining as an incubation partner, the scope has now expanded to include seamless integration with its mainnet infrastructure and a more robust technical support structure.
XPLA, which operates a Layer 1 blockchain platform tailored for Web3 gaming, brings to the table a wealth of experience and strategic partnerships. Its ecosystem includes prominent global names like Google Cloud, Animoca Brands, and Yield Guild Games (YGG). The platform is known for its reliable infrastructure and support for IP-based titles such as Summoners War: Chronicles, The Walking Dead: All-Stars, and MiniGame Heaven.
XPLA’s team lead, Paul Kim, indicated that while the Web3 gaming sector holds substantial promise, it still faces notable challenges. He noted that this collaboration is expected to lower those barriers by helping developers build games within a secure and supportive framework, ultimately facilitating their entry into global markets.
KMGA President Seong-ik Hwang shared that the association is particularly focused on equipping small and mid-tier developers with the tools needed for success in the Web3 space. This includes offering training programs, expert advisory services, and platforms for meaningful industry networking, all intended to enable a smoother transition into blockchain game development.
Hyun-ki Hwang, CEO of Punkvism, highlighted his company’s multifaceted experience in NFTs, cryptocurrency, and real-world assets (RWAs). He explained that Punkvism plans to provide well-structured incubation services to participating game studios. These services are expected to span token creation, exchange listings, business strategy, and partnership cultivation.
Adding momentum to its Web3 ambitions, Punkvism’s community recently confirmed that its token is scheduled for listing in May 2025. The announcement has generated considerable interest, with ongoing discussions surrounding mining, staking, and futures trading. The community is also gearing up for the public launch of four new projects—SoccerGo, Eternal Moon, Lotus Fund, and Chiping Coin. These projects are anticipated to create valuable synergies with the incubated Web3 games.
Meanwhile, the Web3 Game Acceleration Consortium continues to evolve by bringing more industry leaders into its fold. Partners like Xsolla and MixMarvel have already joined, with XPLA now being the latest addition. This growing alliance reflects a shared commitment to solving the technical and commercial challenges faced by early-stage blockchain game developers, with a vision of creating a thriving and inclusive Web3 gaming ecosystem.
