Ripple Labs has announced the acquisition of GTreasury, a leading provider of treasury management software, in a deal valued at approximately US$1 billion (AU$1.55 billion). The purchase, which is expected to close in the coming months pending regulatory approvals, marks Ripple’s third major acquisition of the year and represents a significant expansion of its corporate financial infrastructure offerings.

GTreasury’s software is widely used by large multinational corporations to manage complex, multi-billion-dollar liquidity operations. With the acquisition, Ripple plans to integrate GTreasury’s suite of tools—including cash, fiat, and risk management capabilities—directly into its blockchain-based payments ecosystem. This integration is expected to allow corporations to manage both traditional and digital assets seamlessly within a unified treasury framework.

Corporate Treasury Enters the Digital Asset Era

Ripple’s move signals a shift in how corporations can engage with digital assets. Following the integration, companies will be able to own and operate digital assets such as stablecoins and tokenized deposits natively within their treasury systems. Ripple indicated that the merged infrastructure would allow funds to move across borders instantly and remain accessible at all times, supporting new liquidity, yield, and cash management strategies without disrupting existing operational workflows.

The firm emphasized that by combining blockchain settlement technology with established treasury management processes, enterprises will gain 24/7 access to funds, faster cross-border settlements, and more efficient risk management tools. This capability is expected to simplify corporate treasury operations while promoting wider adoption of blockchain-based financial systems in traditional markets.

Strategic Expansion and Recent Acquisitions

The acquisition of GTreasury adds to Ripple’s growing list of strategic investments in 2025. Earlier in the year, the company acquired prime brokerage firm Hidden Road for US$1.25 billion (AU$1.94 billion), strengthening its position in institutional trading and liquidity management. Ripple also formed a partnership with Absa Bank, one of South Africa’s leading financial institutions, to provide digital asset custody solutions—the first major collaboration of its kind in the African market.

These developments illustrate Ripple’s broader strategy of diversifying beyond its original focus on cross-border remittances. The company has been steadily building an ecosystem that connects payments, liquidity, and asset management through blockchain technology.

Stablecoin and Lending Ecosystem Development

Ripple’s efforts to expand its digital asset offerings are also evident in its stablecoin initiatives. The firm launched its U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, RLUSD, last year, which has since grown to a circulating supply exceeding US$840 million (AU$1.3 billion) across both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum networks. Building on that success, Ripple acquired stablecoin infrastructure provider Rail earlier this year for approximately US$200 million (AU$306 million).

Today, Ripple is breaking into the $120T corporate treasury payments market with the $1B acquisition of GTreasury.

In addition, Ripple recently introduced a US$200,000 (AU$306,000) “attackathon”—a security testing initiative designed to identify and address vulnerabilities within its forthcoming XRP Ledger-based lending protocol. The program reflects Ripple’s commitment to strengthening its ecosystem ahead of deploying more advanced decentralized finance (DeFi) tools.

Positioning for the Next Phase of Institutional Blockchain Adoption

The GTreasury acquisition underscores Ripple’s evolution into a comprehensive financial technology provider. By integrating advanced treasury capabilities with its blockchain network, the company aims to bridge the gap between traditional finance and digital asset management.

Industry observers view the move as a pivotal step in enabling corporations to incorporate blockchain efficiencies into everyday treasury operations. With its expanding suite of institutional-grade services—from stablecoins and custody solutions to cross-border settlement and lending protocols—Ripple continues to position itself at the forefront of enterprise blockchain adoption.
