Stone Rolla Media has revealed plans to introduce SR2, an artificial intelligence–driven and blockchain-enabled publishing platform intended to simplify royalty management and modernize how creators are compensated. Developed within the Stone Rolla Media ecosystem, SR2 is positioned as a hybrid system that blends advanced technology with active human oversight to deliver faster, more transparent publishing administration for artists, songwriters, and composers worldwide.
According to the company’s leadership, the core objective behind SR2 is to eliminate inefficiencies that have long slowed royalty payments across the music industry. Cliff Simms indicated that creators often experience unnecessary delays despite their work already generating income. He emphasized that modern technology now provides a practical way to resolve these structural issues and ensure creators are compensated in a more timely manner.
Blockchain, AI, and Smart Contracts at the Core
Scheduled for launch in the second quarter of 2026, SR2 is designed as a decentralized, web-based application that integrates artificial intelligence with blockchain infrastructure. Within the platform, smart contracts are expected to oversee the full publishing lifecycle. This includes catalog administration, royalty collection, synchronization licensing, and automated payouts. Through this structure, creators are able to retain full ownership of their copyrights while benefiting from accelerated income distribution.
Artists will be able to submit their music directly through the SR2 platform. Once uploaded, submissions are reviewed by Stone Rolla Media’s A&R team to assess artistic quality before any publishing agreements are offered. These agreements are executed through secure digital contracts, reinforcing both efficiency and legal clarity.
Transparent Royalties and Creator-Focused Economics
The platform is structured to support monthly royalty payments, a notable shift from traditional industry timelines. Under the SR2 model, creators maintain ownership of their intellectual property and receive the majority share of revenue through an 80/20 split in their favor. Blockchain-based authentication underpins every transaction, ensuring records are tamper-resistant and fully traceable.
Simms has highlighted that transparency is a central principle behind SR2. By recording contracts, usage data, and payments onchain, the system provides creators with real-time visibility into how their works are monetized. This approach is intended to reduce disputes, improve trust, and give artists clearer insight into their financial performance.
Enhancing Sync Opportunities Through AI
Artificial intelligence also plays a significant role in expanding synchronization opportunities. When briefs are received from agencies or producers, SR2’s AI tools analyze the requirements and match them against the platform’s catalog to identify suitable tracks. Once a songwriter approves a proposed submission, the platform can automatically manage file delivery, invoicing, and payment tracking.
Despite the automation, Stone Rolla Media maintains a hands-on role. Human verification remains embedded throughout the process to ensure creative alignment, fairness, and quality control. This balance is positioned as a way to combine efficiency with artistic judgment rather than replacing human involvement entirely.
Decentralized Governance and Industry Integration
As a decentralized application, SR2 operates on a peer-to-peer network rather than relying on a centralized database. Governance is intended to reside with platform members, reinforcing a community-oriented model. At the same time, Stone Rolla Media plans to establish partnerships that allow SR2 to interface with traditional performance rights organizations, ensuring compatibility with existing industry systems while supporting a more digitally native framework.
Tracy Cunliffe has described SR2 as an extension of the company’s long-standing philosophy of pairing creativity with accountability. She noted that the platform is designed to let artists concentrate on their creative work while trusting that administrative and financial processes are aligned with modern standards.
Looking Ahead to Launch
A public beta of SR2 is expected to begin in early 2026, followed by a full release in the second quarter. For Stone Rolla Media, the platform represents both a technical advancement and a broader statement about the future of music publishing, one where technology supports fairness, speed, and transparency without compromising artistic values.
