Ducat Integrates TRON to Expand Bitcoin-Backed Stablecoin Liquidity

Integration brings USDT and wUNIT into Ducat’s Bitcoin-native system

TRON

Ducat, a decentralized credit and stablecoin system, announced on Sept. 17, 2026, that it had integrated with the TRON network, creating a new route for USDT-based settlement and liquidity movement within its Bitcoin-native financial infrastructure.

The integration allows Ducat users to use USDT on TRON as a primary settlement asset while also accessing wUNIT, a TRC-20 representation of Ducat’s Bitcoin-backed dollar, UNIT. UNIT continues to be issued against Bitcoin on the Bitcoin network, while wUNIT allows its value to move onto TRON and interact with the network’s existing stablecoin liquidity.

The integration connects Ducat’s Bitcoin-backed credit infrastructure with TRON’s stablecoin ecosystem, allowing Bitcoin-based liquidity to access USDT settlement and on-chain financial activity without moving the underlying collateral away from Bitcoin.

Users can hold wUNIT or exchange it directly for USDT through a dedicated stablecoin liquidity pool. The pool also allows liquidity providers to deposit both assets and receive a portion of the fees generated from swaps.

Bitcoin, Ducat, and TRON serve separate functions

The architecture divides responsibilities between the three networks and systems. Bitcoin remains the source of the underlying collateral and value, while Ducat handles monetary and credit-related functions. TRON serves as the settlement environment through which the tokenized value can move and interact with stablecoin liquidity.

This structure provides Ducat with access to TRON’s established stablecoin environment while preserving Bitcoin as the foundation for UNIT issuance and collateralization.

The arrangement could support payments, capital transfers, and other on-chain financial activities involving Bitcoin-backed liquidity and USDT. It also gives users a mechanism for moving between Ducat’s Bitcoin-native financial system and a separate blockchain environment without changing the underlying issuance model for UNIT.

Recent TRON settlement exploit highlights infrastructure risks

The Ducat integration comes shortly after a security incident involving a separate TRON settlement system. On Sept. 12, an attacker drained 736,442.17 USDT from Chainflip’s TRON settlement path. Chainflip disclosed the incident on Sept. 13 and said the affected funds were limited to its TRON USDT route, while other supported networks and remaining funds were not affected.

A pending user swap worth 115,654.41 USDT reportedly remained in the vault and could be processed following a secure restart.

As per reports, Chainflip’s TRON settlement mechanism processed swap parameters through transaction memos. This differed from systems on most other networks that use dedicated smart-contract functions. The protocol said the attacker attached a memo to a transaction that had already been signed by Chainflip validators.

The system interpreted the additional memo as a separate swap instruction. It subsequently classified the duplicate swap as failed and issued a refund, causing the same underlying deposit to be paid twice.

The incident was not cited in Ducat’s announcement and involved a separate protocol and settlement architecture.

Ethena also expands stablecoin presence on TRON

TRON has continued to attract stablecoin projects. Ethena announced on Sept. 11 that its USDe and sUSDe tokens had become available on the network, enabling users to bridge, hold, and transfer the assets through TRON.

Bridging was made available through Stargate Finance, with integration into TRON-based applications including JustLend DAO and SUN.io expected to follow, according to the announcement.

The expansion adds another stablecoin-related use case to a network where USDT represents the dominant share of stablecoin activity.

For Ducat, the TRON integration creates an additional settlement and liquidity channel while retaining Bitcoin as the foundation for UNIT collateral and issuance, potentially expanding the reach of Bitcoin-backed digital dollars across on-chain financial markets.

Trustless infrastructure remains central to TRON

TRON’s infrastructure relies on smart contracts and network consensus to allow transactions and applications to operate without requiring a central authority to approve every interaction.

Such systems are designed to give users direct access to blockchain-based financial applications while making transaction rules visible through programmable protocols and network consensus.

The Ducat integration therefore adds another connection between Bitcoin-backed financial products and TRON’s stablecoin-focused ecosystem, as developers and users continue to explore cross-network settlement, liquidity, and decentralized financial infrastructure.

The development also demonstrates how separate blockchain networks can be assigned different roles, with Bitcoin providing collateral, Ducat managing credit and monetary functions, and TRON handling token settlement and liquidity access.
