Tokenized U.S. Treasury Market Reaches $15.2 Billion

Ethereum Leads as Tokenized Government Debt Expands Across 18 Blockchains

The market for tokenized U.S. Treasury assets has expanded to $15.2 billion, underscoring growing institutional and investor interest in bringing traditional government securities onto blockchain networks.

Data from Token Terminal showed that tokenized Treasury products were distributed across 18 blockchain networks. Ethereum accounted for the largest share, representing 43.2% of the market. BNB Chain followed with 31.5%, while Stellar held a 7.5% share.

The expansion to $15.2 billion highlights the accelerating integration of traditional financial assets with blockchain infrastructure and the growing demand for regulated, yield-bearing products within digital markets.

Tokenized U.S. Treasuries are blockchain-based digital assets representing ownership or economic exposure to U.S. government debt. By placing these instruments on distributed networks, issuers can provide features such as faster settlement, fractional access, automated transactions, and compatibility with decentralized finance applications.

The sector has gained momentum as institutions and digital asset investors seek relatively stable investments that can generate returns without requiring participants to move funds outside blockchain-based financial systems.

Demand for On-Chain Yield Supports Market Growth

The growth of tokenized Treasuries has been supported by rising demand for yield-generating assets that can operate within decentralized finance ecosystems. These products may also serve as collateral for blockchain-based lending, trading, and other financial applications.

Traditional financial institutions have increasingly explored ways to connect established assets with blockchain technology. U.S. government securities have emerged as an important entry point because they are widely recognized, highly liquid, and supported by a large conventional financial market.

The broader expansion also reflects the growth of real-world asset tokenization, a sector focused on representing traditional financial instruments and other physical or financial assets through blockchain-based tokens.

Tokenized Treasuries may enable institutions and investors to access government debt through programmable digital infrastructure while improving settlement efficiency, transparency, and the potential for fractional ownership.

Ethereum has retained its leading position due to its established smart-contract ecosystem, extensive decentralized finance infrastructure, and broad base of developers and institutional service providers. These capabilities have made the network a major platform for issuing and managing tokenized financial products.

However, the strong market presence of BNB Chain indicated that lower transaction costs and alternative blockchain infrastructure were also attracting issuers and users. Stellar maintained a notable position because of its focus on payments, asset issuance, and cross-border financial services.

Multi-Chain Growth Could Improve Market Resilience

The distribution of tokenized Treasury products across 18 networks suggested that the sector was developing as a multi-chain market rather than relying on a single blockchain.

Different networks may appeal to issuers based on their transaction speed, operating costs, compliance capabilities, interoperability, or access to specific investor communities. A broader distribution could also improve resilience by reducing dependence on one technology platform.

The growing use of multiple blockchains indicates that tokenized Treasury products are evolving into a broader financial infrastructure category rather than remaining limited to a single digital asset ecosystem.

For cryptocurrency investors, tokenized Treasury products may provide access to government-backed yield while allowing capital to remain within blockchain networks. For institutions, the products could offer new methods for issuing, transferring, and managing traditional securities through digital systems.

The expansion may also draw increased attention from regulators as the sector connects conventional financial markets with decentralized technology. Market participants are likely to place greater emphasis on the legal structure of tokenized products, the reliability of issuing platforms, custody arrangements, and regulatory oversight.

The $15.2 billion milestone demonstrated that tokenized U.S. Treasuries had moved beyond an experimental use case and were becoming an increasingly important part of the digital asset market. Ethereum remained the leading network, but the substantial participation of BNB Chain, Stellar, and other platforms pointed toward a diversified and potentially more competitive multi-chain future.
