Aptos DeFi Gains BitGo MPC Wallet Support for DecibelTrade

Institutional traders gain self-custody access to spot and perpetuals

BitGo has expanded wallet connectivity to DecibelTrade, a decentralized exchange built on the Aptos blockchain that supports spot and perpetual futures trading. The integration allows institutional clients to connect self-custody multi-party computation wallets to DecibelTrade through WalletConnect while retaining existing security controls, including address whitelisting and multi-party transaction approvals.

The development strengthens the connection between institutional custody infrastructure and decentralized finance applications operating on Aptos. By enabling BitGo-supported MPC wallets to interact with DecibelTrade, institutional users can access decentralized trading services without giving up control mechanisms designed to limit unauthorized transactions.

Multi-party computation technology distributes control of a wallet across multiple parties or cryptographic components rather than relying on a single private key. This approach can reduce the risks associated with concentrating wallet authority in one location while allowing organizations to establish approval requirements before transactions are executed.

BitGo connects institutional wallets to Aptos DeFi

DecibelTrade provides decentralized trading infrastructure for both spot markets and perpetual contracts. Its integration with BitGo enables institutional users to connect their self-custody wallets directly to the platform through WalletConnect, a widely used connection layer between cryptocurrency wallets and decentralized applications.

The integration gives institutional clients a way to use BitGo MPC wallets with DecibelTrade while maintaining address whitelisting and multi-party approval controls, combining decentralized trading access with institutional security procedures.

Address whitelisting can restrict transfers to approved blockchain addresses, while multi-party approvals can require multiple authorized participants to confirm transactions. Such safeguards are particularly relevant for institutions managing digital assets, where internal governance and operational controls can be as important as market access.

The integration also reflects growing efforts to make decentralized exchanges more compatible with institutional requirements. Traditional financial organizations often require clearly defined authorization processes, segregation of responsibilities, and controls over asset movements before adopting digital-asset infrastructure.

Aptos expands institutional DeFi capabilities

Aptos is a Layer-1 blockchain that uses the Move programming language and a consensus architecture designed to support scalable decentralized applications. Its infrastructure has increasingly been used for applications across decentralized finance and other digital asset markets.

The addition of BitGo wallet support to a DeFi trading venue adds another institutional-facing component to the Aptos ecosystem. Rather than requiring institutions to move assets into a centralized custody arrangement, the model allows eligible users to retain self-custody through an MPC-based wallet while interacting with decentralized applications.

The move could make Aptos-based DeFi more accessible to institutional traders by connecting established wallet security and governance features with decentralized spot and perpetual trading infrastructure.

Institutional adoption of decentralized finance has increasingly centered on security, compliance, and operational risk management. Wallet infrastructure that provides stronger controls can help address some of the barriers organizations face when interacting directly with blockchain-based applications.

The integration comes amid continued institutional activity in digital assets rather than being driven by a major market disruption, according to the report. That backdrop could indicate that infrastructure providers are continuing to build institutional access to decentralized markets as part of longer-term adoption efforts.

Security controls remain central to adoption

While decentralized exchanges can provide direct access to blockchain-based markets, institutions generally require additional safeguards to manage operational and counterparty risks. MPC wallets can address part of that requirement by distributing transaction authority and supporting configurable approval policies.

Every order is matched and settled onchain on Aptos, with sub-second finality.

That's what makes an onchain venue workable for institutional flow: settlement fast enough and final enough to sit inside an existing approval workflow.

BitGo’s connectivity with DecibelTrade therefore represents more than a simple wallet integration. It links institutional-grade wallet controls with an Aptos-based decentralized exchange, potentially creating a more familiar operating environment for professional market participants.

The development also demonstrates how blockchain ecosystems are increasingly focusing on infrastructure that connects institutional users with decentralized applications. As more financial firms explore digital assets, wallet security, transaction governance, and direct blockchain connectivity are likely to remain important factors in determining adoption.

If demand for decentralized spot and perpetual trading continues to grow among professional investors, integrations such as the BitGo-DecibelTrade connection could help broaden institutional participation across the Aptos ecosystem while preserving self-custody and transaction approval controls.
