The Graph has announced plans to integrate Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) in an effort to enable secure transfers of its native token, GRT, across different blockchain ecosystems. The initiative is being positioned as a step toward improving token mobility and expanding The Graph’s presence beyond its existing network. The first stage of the rollout will allow GRT to move between Arbitrum, Base, and Solana, reflecting a broader strategy to strengthen the token’s role in multi-chain environments.
According to project details, the adoption of CCIP is expected to create trusted bridges for GRT movement, allowing holders, delegators, and developers to seamlessly transfer tokens between supported chains. This is projected to increase flexibility for users participating in The Graph’s indexing ecosystem, while also enhancing interoperability for decentralized data services.
Laying the Foundation for Cross-Chain Staking and Payments
The initial focus of the integration is on establishing the infrastructure required for cross-chain token transfers. Once this core functionality is live, The Graph plans to expand into additional capabilities such as staking and delegation across multiple chains. The organization has also indicated interest in allowing query fees to be paid in GRT on Layer 2 networks, which could reduce transaction costs and broaden participation in the protocol.
GRT is now a Cross-Chain Token (CCT)!

Future upgrades are expected to give users the ability to stake GRT on one network while interacting with applications on another, offering a more flexible approach to securing and rewarding network activity. These developments align with The Graph’s long-term aim of supporting a fully interoperable web3 data layer.
Strengthening Multi-Chain Collaboration, Including Solana
By including Solana in its early integration roadmap, The Graph has signalled its intent to deepen engagement with a wider developer community. The decision to support a high-performance chain such as Solana reflects its ambition to serve diverse ecosystems and expand access to decentralized indexing tools.
The move also highlights a broader industry shift toward modular and interoperable blockchain architecture, where tokens and services are expected to operate fluidly rather than remain confined to single networks.
Advancing a Unified Web3 Data Ecosystem
The adoption of Chainlink CCIP has been framed as a milestone in The Graph’s mission to enable a more interconnected web3 environment. The team emphasised that enhancing the cross-chain functionality of GRT is central to bringing decentralized data to a wider audience, with the expectation that interoperability will drive broader ecosystem participation.
Community updates are expected as the integration progresses, with the team indicating that more capabilities will be rolled out in phases. The initiative is being positioned as a key step toward transforming GRT from a network-specific utility token into a cross-chain asset embedded in the future of decentralized data infrastructure.
